Day 3 - New York City, NY

Our hotel was so conveniently located just across the water in Jersey City and the subway was right out the front door of our hotel. It was only a 4 minute subway ride and then we are right at the World Trade Center (well now ground zero). We only had to ride to the first stop. It tooks us 45 minutes to get there!! Mostly my fault, for some reason the train didn't stop first at our stop so I saw the train next to us and it said our stop I convinced Cody to get off the train we were on and take this one. Well this one took us further away into New Jersey. Then we got off and got on yet another train and still further into New Jersey. Finally we got on one more train and rode it the rest of the way back through New Jersey and then finally into New York. What a morning. We then checked out Ground Zero, rode the subway to Macy's where we walked around, had some pizza at a local place, and then headed to Central Park.

Central park was so big. There we bridges and grassy fields, little ponds, and an area where lots of people were sunbathing. It was very nice. Then we headed to the Museum of Natural History. It is to bad that it isn't free in New York like it is in Washington DC. I was glad that we went through the museum but we went through it so fast it would have been nice to at least get in for half price or something!

After we left the museum we walked back through Central Park and then tried to find a place called Serendipity. I have heard of it from some movies and thought it would be a good dessert place. We had to call Cody's twin sister Cari a few times to get good directions. We finally got there and it was a 2 and 1/2 hour wait. We decided dessert was not worth that and we didn't have that much time left. We found another ice cream place that was pretty neat and then headed back to our hotel. We then drove to Kingston, NY. We were smarter this time and got on the New Jersey turnpike before we turned on our GPS so it wouldn't take us back through New York City.
