Day 9 - Newport, RI and Proivdence, RI

We left Cape Cod and headed to Newport, RI. They have these fantastic mansions in Newport that you can tour and of course for the owners of these beauties they were only summer homes!!!! Yeah, I think my house could have fit in the entry way. We weren't able to take pictures inside but they were amazing. The landscaping and gardens on these properties were so incredible and definitely made my rock yard look pretty pathetic!! We bought tickets to tour 5 houses and the lady thought we might be lucky to get in 3 but we showed her and got all 5. Most of them had audio tours (Cody and I were good at speeding up our tours) but 2 of them had guided tours. Rosecliff has had several movies filmed there, The Great Gastby, the tango seen from True Lies, and some clips from 27 Dresses.

We walked the cliff walk which takes you behind the houses and along the coast. It was beautiful, but thankfully and also unfortunately, this was the only day that it rained on our trip. As we approached the cliff walk it didn't seem to be raining to bad anymore so we ventured out. We got about 1 1/2 to 2 miles out from our car and it started raining pretty hard!! Since we didn't check any bags (yes I fit all my stuff in 2 carry on bags!!) we didn't have an umbrella. We were soaked by the time we got back to our car and we flew home the next day so our clothes had not dried out and we had to pack them wet!!!

After the cliff walk we got to our hotel and put on some dry clothes and headed out for dinner. We went to a pretty nice place in Providence on the water that had good seafood!!! We felt a little under dressed but weren't the only ones in jeans there, hey at least they were our dry clothes. I ordered the lobster stuffed with scallops and crab and it was very good!!!
